Off-Road Vehicles
SHSM & 
Dual Credit

The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) and Dual Credit program in Off-Road Vehicles gives students an opportunity to specialize, gain qualifications, and plan a career pathway in various areas of the Off-Road Vehicle repair and maintenance sector while still in high school. The program has a number of required components, designed to give students a “leg-up” to pursue post-secondary opportunities in each of the identified sectors, valuing apprenticeship, college, university and the workplace.

This course enables students to develop technical knowledge and skills as they study, test, service, and repair engine, electrical, suspension, brake, and steering systems on a diverse range of vehicles & small engines. Students will develop communication and teamwork skills through practical tasks, using a variety of tools and equipment. Students will develop an awareness of environmental and societal issues related to transportation, and will learn about apprenticeship and college programs leading to careers in the off-road vehicle industry.

Students will gain a diverse skill set.  From welding to operating computer controlled machine, students will have the opportunity to learn their skills in a full size open to the public transportation shop.

Custom Welding

This course also enables students to choose to do there SHSM in the full sized autobody shop.  The shop boasts a full size spray booth capable of painting full size vehicles.  Students will develop technical knowledge and skills as they work to learn the fundamentals of auto restoration. Students will develop communication and teamwork skills through practical tasks, using a variety of tools and equipment.
